SEPTEMBER NEWS Summer is over and a new school year begins. The children arrived the first day with bright smiles anxious to see old friends and meet new ones. The month of September is filled with many exciting programs. We will continue our Handwriting Without Tears Program and Eureka Math. We have introduced Core Knowledge; a literary and language arts program designed to introduce children to fairy tales. rhymes and fables. The boys and girls will engage in different themes. The first theme is "All About Me." We will talk about family, the child's interests and favorite things. We will also explore the art of bubble making. The children will do observation, experimentation and the discovery of what makes a bubble. Boys and girls love colors. We will talk about rainbows and we will mix colors using ice cubes and food coloring. The Fall season will be upon us. We will talk about the changes we see in the weather and what we observe in the outdoors with this new season. The author of the month is Leo Lionni. We will read many of his books which will leadto great class discussions. The Rosh Hashanah Holiday will be celebrated as we dip apples into honey. It will be a very busy month at The Jericho Stem Academy.
